EDC meeting minutes– January 10, 2007

• Pete’s stoked to start the new year!

• Pete will be in the edc office during MWF studio hours

• Sign up for office hours – Pete’s looking into finding us a newer, doper office – but we need to represent and try to be in the office as much as possible

• New meeting times! What works for everyone? Monday at 8pm is the new time – we need to email this out to everyone…

• We are meeting next Monday at 8 (MLK day) Be there or else!

• Coordinator Party – where? When? The party will be on Friday, January 19, 2007, location to be finalized ASAP. This is for EDC folks, it is meant to be an intimate gathering so we can all get to know how fabulous we all are. We need to figure out the stipend scenario for this event.

Nomination for New Director Director Job Duties Nominations or Volunteers: Pete Henne: Volunteers to take on some director duties Brian: One suggestion- divy up duties and distribute btwn several individuals Dianne: do people see logical divisions among the duties Director Duties/Activities: liaison btwn AC, ASUO, CASL, SBG, coordinates mtgs / agendas, people mgmt/coordinator, timeline, Katherine: nominates Kris Day Kris Day: respectfully declines Ani: Would Pete be willing to drop his HOPES responsibilities to take on more Director Duties? Pete: Possibly. I would have to check in with John Pete. Brian: I nominate Pete. Kris: I second that. Tracy: How about an email to recruit canidates? Sarah: We're getting to the point that we're going to start needing volunteers in every capacity. Katie: Has a list of first year grads. What should the email say? Kris: Tell them we have some openings- some needs we could use help with. Events/Workshops could use a co-coordinator.

- Review of Advisory Council Meeting -

Great response to water theme - especially EWEB

Lots of projects happening locally - studies about development heating up water...mitigation upstream to help cool. Lots of landscape and architecture. - Check out minutes of meeting online.

Most of advisory council personally involved with a water related project and feel that it is a huge topic in professional community.

Simon went to USGBC LEED user group on Tuesday. Fred McVeigh - potential speeker. Sandy?, city of Eugene stormwater management...spoke at hopes 2006.

CASL- Susan represenative cord. came to introduce group

   - CASL has acquired a house on Moss St. to re-design as a 
     model house for students to work on. 
   - 2-3 co-directors will live in the house and run it as a                      
     demonstration house
   - Short-term goals- Make house livable
   - Long-term  master plan, make AAA class become involved to 
     help design and transform the house.

Advisory council meeting- Tues 14th at lunch

   - Announce Hopes 13- Manifesto
   - Call for questions and input to ask of the council
   - Anneleise and Dianne will help set up prior to the meeting

HOPES ideas: See thru cistern system illustrating water use/cleansing Construction of bioswale Monitoring of courtyard bioswale Poster/presentation of courtyard transformation – new handling of water How to handle runoff & integrate permeable surfaces

Need for core crew of workshop/events brainstormers!

Need to come up with some design competitions! Give away something like $500/term!!! Or we could buy cool things as prizes! Like solar powered stuff, gift certificates to righteous local businesses, art supplies/workshop fees @ Craft Center, etc.
