Here's a quick summary of the rest of the meeting:
HOPES 15 Feedback
Awesome, sweet
Workshops – where you get to make things
Meeting speakers and eating with them was awesome – esp Anderson Anderson
Pulling in folks that were not aware of HOPES
Wind a problem at reg desk
2 panels at the same time, not 3
Someone to coordinate chair/furniture movement – better focus for volunteer training
Make sure teardown people are attending last keynote
Truck from motorpool?
Another venue for HOPES party – big space, have to organize on their time – makes for unneeded stress and extra stage moving – student rec center room or emu room?
A week later? – for media a lot of time for posters was during finals
More people in the building
Not during the field trip weekend
Great volunteer recruitment
Online registration – streamline – or make it clear what needs to happen with people who already have accounts

• “Thinking Small”-solving our ecological problems will
Solving our ecological problems will require massive change, as Bruce Mau has suggested. Yet even as we must think big, we must also remember to think small. Visions are accomplished incrementally; details are important; impacts must be studied and limited; the meek among us require protection. Join us as we consider the meaning of “local” and “appropriate,” as we ponder the ripple effect. Help us contemplate nanotechnology and microclimates. Plant the tiny seeds to grow the revolutionary change.

First Meeting Minutes
09/30/2007
• Began discussing how to access EDC server as well as a brief description of how to take meeting minutes.
Meeting minutes-to take meeting minutes all you need is a computer and a account on the edc website. Once you log in using your username and password, you can find the link that says create content and post the meeting minutes on the website for all to see.
EDC Server- to access the server you need to log on to the network using the following username and password (username: edc/ password: edcenter).
• Break for pizza eating.
• Discussing the initial planning stages for the year: signing up for office hours, deciding on new meeting time
• Reminder of the student group events for both the UO and for the AAA dept.
• Weekly meeting: discussion of having both our housekeeping weekly meeting and every other week doing a social meeting.
1. HOPES design charrette group - just got a book of records from the previous HOPES charrettes. Need to put book together in the next few weeks. Need graphic design & layout; all the images are scanned. Need powerpoint to go along with it. John did that charrette. Due after spring break. Was going to ask Katie to find a volunteer; possibly ask Catherine. Kris suggested outlining the tasks to help with volunteer recruitment.
2. Solar Hot Water heater project was forwarded for further consideration by the Senate - yea!! Had 75 original ones, 30 were forwarded. have meeting Sunday at 6pm. Julie suggests lobbying 3-4 senators and will help if given content. UO senate is *very* political. Solar walkway also relevant; ours is medium sized in request compared to others.
1. New meeting time? Monday PM meetings have been having low attendance. Discussion on new meeting time. Joe: Wednesday at 8pm? Lecture series ends this week. Weds at 7pm suggested. Then 6pm suggested. WEDS 6PM is NEW MEETING TIME. John: stresses importance of high attendance at meetings, especially because questions of all of us regarding HOPES will increase in the coming weeks.
2. Request for feedback on transitions: How are things going? Hannah: meeting attendance is central. Anneliese: You're doing a great job, Pete! Joe: small group discussions seemed to work; should we try those again? Kris: maybe we can set Monday night as a cutoff for agenda items, to get out, so people can think about them Tuesday and be ready for discussion Weds. Hannah: two-hour meetings? Please give us notice so we can prepare to be here for that long! John: further elaboration on long HOPES meetings - lots of detail to be disseminated a couple of times.
