The International Research Forum (IRF), presented by the
International Studies Program, highlights current empirically grounded, theoretically critical research-in-progress by both University of Oregon and external scholars. The IRF serves as a venue through which research with an international dimension may be presented, critiqued, and discussed within both International Studies and the wider university community.
This academic term, we are pleased to welcome Professor Hari Osofsky, who will speak on climate change litigation and the ways in which geographic perspectives on scale could contribute to legal approaches to cross-cutting problems like climate change.
Biography: Professor HARI OSOFSKY:
Hari Osofsky, professor at the UO School of Law and is an expert on climate change litigation. She received her B.A. and J.D. from Yale University. She currently is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography at the University of Oregon Professor Osofsky's scholarship focuses on two overlapping areas: (1) climate change litigation and (2) law and geography. Her current writing projects on climate change litigation include several articles, a co-edited book forthcoming with Cambridge University Press, and a casebook complement on climate change and nuisance with Aspen Publishers. Her articles have been published and are forthcoming in a variety of journals, including the Washington University Law Quarterly, Villanova Law Review, Chicago Journal of International Law, Stanford Environmental Law Journal, Stanford Journal of International Law, and Yale Journal of International Law.

Biography: ALEXANDER B. MURPHY
Professor Murphy is Professor of Geography at the University of Oregon, where he also holds the James F. and Shirley K. Rippey Chair in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He specializes in cultural and political geography, with a regional emphasis on Europe. Professor Murphy is a past President of the Association of American Geographers (2003-2004), a Vice-President of the American Geographical Society, and an editor of both Progress in Human Geography and Eurasian Geography and Economics.
