Inspiring HOPES moments:
Jonathan: very young insightful kids at kids' HOPES, understanding intuitively about gravity's affect on water catchment
Duff was alcohol monitor, JD was bouncer. Duff said "I get it." "What do you get?" "Sustainability. I can go for a multi-million dollar sustainable project in Africa."
Dan Goldstein: how great to talk with Frances Bronet, Sergio Palleroni and give feedback as a student about what they could do to support us more.
Jessica: we are a resource for sustainability to the AAA school. Duff has been appointed to pursue this and has been talking with us.
Sebastien: a lot of people came up to tell me thanks for bringing such inspiring speakers. It brought back that this was a chance to educate our educators. I didn't know how powerful it would be and it was worth it to see all the people whose eyes lit up after hearing a great speaker.
- Documents helping to create the conference
Jessica: Please bring these, we need to curate this.
Jess P: I will make a document that has things I wish I had known.
Kaarin: I will create a spiral bound organized document.
Sebastien: We all have our own way of organizing info.
Jessica: There is a general survival guide, and then there are individual coordinator guides.
Jesse, Jonathan: It would be good to pass on contact info.
Jessica: There will be a box to collect the info.
- Photos:
Jessica: I created a directory containing a set of photos: HOPES12/photos or something. Andrew and Dan G. also have a few.
Kaarin: It would be great if they could be placed right away because eg Michael Cockram wants some for a publication now.
- Solar Kiosk:
KK: Ribbon cutting tomorrow right before studio. There will also be an Emerald article.
- Lunar Logic
JD: Ben Barrett wants to put together some kind of Flash thing for sustainability.
- Accounting requests
CY, JP: Hotel bills are not paid, Chris will pay. Action Rents question--should be paid already. Who purchased batteries? Danny Schaible. Kaarin used her own money for printing. Money for Gavin.
- Thank yous
JG: Kaarin will help Jessica with thank you card letters, etc.
- Volunteer appreciation event
Jonathan, Brooke, Jess Parker, will organize. Can we do this in conjunction with elections? 5:30pm Tuesday May 2, courtyard. Popsicles. Party first then elections. Rootbeer floats? Backporch discussion later.
- Design Bridge
Kaarin--Stephanie Osorio said it was great for Design Bridge to be involved. JG, JJ, JD--the charrette was great, the h.s. teachers were excited.
- Courting our replacements
We made a list of people to directly ask. And positions they'd be good for. Dan G. will make a generic poster, and we can put them up in different schools--biz school, journalism, CS, etc.
- Coordinator Elections
How will we do this? Jessica will bring a list of all the positions with a description. She will get the descriptions from Chris Young. Jonathan Dunn will reserve the courtyard.
- ECAFF grant
Jesse Jenkins: We got $4000 from ECAFF to do the feasibility study. For some reason the ASUO didn't fund much--they will transfer the money to next year. With ours, we didn't have multiple bids, they wanted the results of the feasibility study before granting us the rest.
- Solar Kiosk
It's pretty much all set.
- Events coming up
Saturday--stormwater management tour will go this weekend, Habitats will do it, it would be great if we went to keep up our relationship with them.
Solar Homes Tour already has a tour date: Sept. 28 or 30?? New people need to know about this. We had to organize this at the last minute last year.
- Rainwater catchment
JD: Turned out really great, it's running great. It's hard to test until it starts raining. Part of our grant requires testing. They want it out of the fountain by June 1. Stan Jones is asking Ann Bettman to take the rainwater catchment out to the Urban Farm. Hopefully that will work out. Cockram wants pictures of it for his article.
Freecycle Extreme House Makeover--no word?
- Green Rescheme?
DG--Week of May 8? Let's back porch this. Because of the party. We won't have a meeting next week. Anyone who wants to help, let's look at it next Tuesday after the elections.
- Spring Office Hours
Sebastien: good opportunity to finish up projects. Kaarin will organize the spring hours. We can share our hours with the newly elected officers.
- Election
Jonathan can set up but can't be there.
- Spring Meeting Time:
Let's wait till election
- One more advisory council meeting for debrief.
Lunch: Weds. May 10.
- Back porch
- Budget - Election/party
