G.Z. Brown, professor of architecture at the University of Oregon in Eugene, energy expert and director of the Energy Studies in Buildings lab was featured on National Public Radio earlier today. Along with Jim Motavalli, editor of E, the Environmental Magazine, Ray Tonjes, a green home builder in Austin, Texas, and Amy Tighe, real estate agent for a green condominium development in Cambridge, Massachusetts he talked about ways to save money and save energy in designing the built environment.

$100,000 Solar Energy Project Complete

Solar Kiosk EDC's Solar Monitoring Kiosk at the UO Rec Center.

The Ecological Design Center announced today that the third and final phase of its $100,000 project to bring solar energy to the University of Oregon campus is complete. The new Solar Kiosk will provide every student who visits the Student Recreation Center (SRC) with real-time information about exactly how much power the rooftop array is producing. The kiosk ribbon-cutting will be held at the SRC at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26. The event will last approximately 20 minutes.
