CONCEPT DESIGN FOR A NEW EUGENE CITY HALL
On Wednesday, March 5, at 7 PM, in the McNail-Riley Building, the City of Eugene's design team invites you to join in a dialogue about design and sustainability as we develop the concept for a new city hall building at 8th and Pearl. The design team is looking forward to your feedback on a design in progress that incorporates features such as green roofs, bio-swales, night flushing, and solar heating. Designed for a 100-year horizon, a new city hall needs to be durable and adaptable as new technologies develop and the needs of Eugene residents change.

The speaker will be Mike Penwell, Facilities Design & Construction Manager for the City of Eugene.

Take Back Campus
Student Empowerment Forum
Co-sponsored by ASUO and the Sustainability Coalition
Students should have a say in decision making on campus. Widespread campus apathy and disempowerment stem from lack of control in the decision making that affects us all. Where was student input in these decisions?:
Non-renewal of Holy Cow's contract
Firing of popular faculty
Campus sustainability commitment
Construction of new sports arenas
Public safety on campus
Replacement of wrestling program
Student control of the incidental fee
Lack of departmentalization of the Ethnic Studies program
...AND MORE

Stephen Schneider
Climate change expert Stephen Schneider to speak at UO
Stephen H. Schneider, one of the world's leading experts in atmospheric research, will deliver the Robert D. Clark Lecture on Tuesday, March 4, at the University of Oregon.
Schneider, a professor of biology and environmental studies at Stanford University, says that much can be done to reduce the magnitude of the risks associated with global warming if only citizens can summon the political will to take decisive collective action -- soon.
The talk, "Global Warming: How Do We Manage the Risks?" will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Room 182 of the Lillis Business Complex, 955 E. 13th Ave.
Schneider is a MacArthur Fellow, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and an active participant on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -- the international scientific body that shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice-President Al Gore.
Midterms are upon us, and it is time to make your design more earth- friendly. The Ecological Design Center wants to encourage your sustainable tendencies by offering an opportunity to chat about your project with green-minded faculty and professionals.

The reviewers on Monday will be Leslie Ryan (landscape architecture), Nico Larco (architecture), and Charlie Brown (architecture). Wednesday's reviewers will be Brook Muller (architecture), Alec Dackers (Rainbow Valley Design and Construction), and Jess Gracie (Pivot Architecture).
